This online project database lists the projects conducted or sponsored by the River Systems Institute at Texas State University. In partnership with the National Autonomous University of Mexico, the Environmental Protection Agency, Sul Ross University, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the Nature Conservancy of Texas, the Lower Colorado
River Authority, and the San Antonio Water System, the Institute is leading efforts on the research of rivers and instream flows, coastal and fresh water inflows, groundwater, and environmental flows in Texas. Example projects include:
• Identifying stakeholders and establish a central clearinghouse for information, data, and ongoing activities throughout the Rio Grande basin
• Examining the groundwater usage, water quality and quantity, biological integrity, and land use along the Rio Grande
• Ecological characterization of the Blanco River watershed and development of conservation strategies
• Monitoring the health of seagrass systems using aerial remote sensing data
• Monitoring wells to determine whether concentrated animal feeding operations are having an effect on ground water quality in the Guadalupe River Basin.
• Studies on selected spring systems during different levels of spring flow to determine the impact on biota during periods of reduced spring flow.
